Describe why you enjoy math: I enjoy math because it shows the intricate design of the universe, and unravelling it reveals the patterns and wonders to be discovered through curious and critical thinking.

Describe how you anticipate using math in your future: Biomedical engineering, financial prudence, and crocheting all involve a great level of math to accomplish.

I have been involved in my community through the following service projects: Feed My Starving Children; Alpha Nu Homeschool Honors Society; Freedom Martial Arts; my church food pantry

My favorite project has been:  Developing a SPIOS (syringe pump intravenous operating system) for NASA HUNCH (High school students United with NASA to Create Hardware) because this opportunity gave me a chance to gain experience in biomedical engineering.

I have set the following goals for myself for the next:

  • 1 year: Start university off with excellence in academics, service and community.

  • 5 years: Graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, have a patent on SPIOS, and possibly start graduate school.

My parents have inspired me to consider: moving to Japan as a vocational missionary.

My favorite subject in school has been: mathematics, specifically statistics and calculus.

My favorite extra-curricular activity has been: Practicing and teaching Taekwondo

The most challenging thing I have ever experienced is: Passing my first degree black belt test, which included over 500 pushups and sparring for 25 minutes.

My greatest accomplishment to date has been: Being a finalist both years that I participated in the NASA HUNCH program and being invited to present at NASA’s HRP (Human Research Program) workshop.
