Describe why you enjoy math: From a young age, math has been my favorite subject and I enjoy working with numbers. I started with counting the dots on dominoes and now work with spreadsheets and formulas. I enjoy the challenge math can provide and look forward to another application of math through my career in accounting.
Describe how you anticipate using math in your future: I anticipate using math in my career as an accountant. I will also use math for fun while operating fantasy sports competitions, using formulas to determine the best choices.
I have been involved in my community through the following service projects: 4-H leader at county and club levels, Rockne Historical Association volunteer, Sacred Heart Catholic Church youth ministry leader/mentor, Rodeo Austin and San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo tour guide and a volunteer for numerous community projects and fundraising activities.
My favorite project was: My favorite project was my community service for the Rockne Historical Association. I gained experience with financial tasks while working for a local non-profit. I was fascinated with the artifacts in the museum, helping identify World War II era artifacts.
I have set the following goals for myself for the next:
-
1 year: Complete my high school education, attend Texas A&M University in the fall, majoring in Accounting.
-
5 years: Graduate from Texas A&M University, obtaining my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting through the Professional Program in Accounting.
My parents have inspired me to consider: pursuing my college education, raising a family and continuing to be active in my community.
My favorite subject in school has been: Accounting
My favorite extra-curricular activity has been: My involvement in the 4-H program.
The most challenging thing I have ever experienced is: my dual credit, online course in biology.
My greatest accomplishment to date has been: Obtaining 30 hours of college credit through dual credit and testing to shorten my collegiate career by a full year.
